IDS Early Engineering Recognition

In April 1974, Itoh Denki Seisakusho Co., Ltd., under the leadership of (then) President Teruaki Itoh, was interviewed by a Japanese print publication.

“In Kumamoto, I am the only one engaged in electronics-related work,” he says as his very first words.

The company prides itself on being a leading manufacturer of computer-related equipment. However, this also means that he spends his days extremely busy, upgrading technology and conducting regular inspections at various factories. The reality is that he even works most Sundays. He has loved machinery since childhood and recalls being absorbed in taking machines apart and reassembling them.

Entering the field of electronics felt natural to him. While working at the electrical company he originally joined, he was instructed to “produce the same equipment as imported models.”

It was a difficult challenge, but he successfully accomplished it. This demonstration of his technical ability became the catalyst for his decision to establish his own company, strongly encouraged by those around him. Because his technical expertise was already highly valued, he felt no anxiety about starting with zero capital. With extensive cooperation from suppliers in the parts industry, along with his optimistic personality and determination to work at his own pace, the company has grown steadily to its present state.

He states firmly,

“I never want to create anything inferior to other companies’ products. And I must never cause trouble for our customers.”

Guided by this philosophy of sincerity and responsibility, over the past seven years the company’s work has expanded to include major firms such as Mitsui & Co. and Asahi Kasei.

Through continuous research and technological development, the equipment he produces plays an important role in various corporations. He finds fulfillment in “creating things that others cannot.” He expresses strong confidence in his technology, saying that none of the equipment he has developed so far has ever caused trouble.
