Automated Aliquot System

IDS-CLAS 2800

The IDS-CLAS 2800 standardizes sample preparation to help laboratories maintain predictable turnaround times while reducing manual handling, variability, labeling risk, workflow congestion.

As a standalone unit, the system processes sample preparation from sample reception through decapping, aliquoting, and pre-analytical sorting. Samples can be aliquoted into up to four different secondary tube types, supporting parallel testing workflows across multiple analyzers and handles up to 15 aliquots per sample.

Additional modules such as centrifugation before aliquoting or recapping after dispensing can be added to support laboratory-specific workflow requirements.

Product availability, features, and configuration options may vary by region and can be tailored to meet local market needs and regulatory requirements.

1. Increased Productivity

Throughput of up to 320 samples/hour, supporting faster turnaround times.

2. Compact, Space-Efficient Design

1.33 m² footprint integrating sample reception to advanced sorting.

3. Tube Type Characterization

Vision-guided tube and cap recognition confirms samples against test orders.

4. Standardized Sample

Aliquoting up to four secondary tube types.

1
1. Primary Tube Loading & Unloading Area

Routine samples are loaded from IDS 50-tube rack onto system track where sample barcodes are scanned to confirm receipt and routing. Samples with barcode error are placed into the adjacent error rack (1 x 10-tube rack). STAT samples can be prioritized on a configurable 5 x 10-tube rack.

Processed primary samples can be unloaded back to the same 50-tube rack.

2
2. STAT & Routine Sample Loading + Error Sample Unloading Area

When urgent samples are loaded on the configured STAT sample rack, the loading arm will pick up the STAT Sample before going over to pick up the routine samples. 5x 10-tube rack which are configurable to be routine or STAT samples.

Samples with labelling or identification issues are loaded back into the 1x 10-tube rack that is next to the 50-tube rack is error sample rack.

Barcodes are scanned to confirm receipt and routing.

3
3. Blood Clot Detection Area

The interface between the serum and the separating agent in the sample is scanned and this data is used during aliquoting.

4
4. Decapping Area

Removes the following tube closures including :

  • Rubber
  • Plastic
  • Screw

Samples with caps that cannot be removed are sent to the error rack in the primary tube unloading area (1) or (7).

5
5. Secondary Aliquot Tube Labeler

The system allows up to 4 aliquot (secondary) tubes per primary tube to be set up.

Labels are automatically printed and applied to the aliquot tubes depending on the number of test ordered and then gets sent to the aliquoting area.

The automation system can be manufactured with the barcode labeler of your choice, allowing customization to fit your specific operational requirements.

9.Bulk Loading Area

The IDS-CLAS 2800 is equipped with two distinct supply areas for loading secondary aliquot tubes, offering enhanced flexibility and uninterrupted operation in high-throughput environments. Each supply position accommodates a different tube size or type, allowing operators to load up to four types of secondary tubes (two 75mm and two 100mm) simultaneously.

Accommodates two different φ13×75mm tube types.

12. Touch-screen Control Monitor

A system operating PC with intuitive operator interaction. Offers real-time views of system operation and rack sorting.

Product design and specifications are subject to change without notice.

1. Primary tubes are removed from racks and loaded onto system.

2. Barcodes are scanned to confirm receipt and test orders.

3. Optical boundary detection determines the available serum volume.

4. Primary tubes are decapped. Caps are discarded as biohazard waste.

5. Test-specific secondary tubes are supplied and labels traceable to primary sample are applied.

6. Serum or plasma is aspirated and dispensed using disposable tips.

7. Completed aliquots and primary samples are sorted into designated analyzer racks.
